Kyle is a lifelong Irving resident with a background in retail grocery and financial services. Kyle joined Irving Cares as a volunteer in the Employment Services program in July 2010. He presented the weekly Job Search Seminar where he advised and inspired clients seeking employment. In April 2012, Kyle was named Irving Cares “Volunteer of the Year.” When the Coordinator of Volunteers position became available, Kyle joined the staff where he manages the food pantry and more than 200 volunteers serving the agency. As Kyle’s role grew, he was name Director of Community Engagement, and was promoted to CEO in December 2017.
Community Engagement Coordinator, ext. 202
Joyce joined the staff of Irving Cares in March 2018 as the Community Engagement Coordinator. Joyce is a long-time resident of Irving and graduated from Irving High School. Joyce has been in the Real Estate industry for over 30 years , including contract work with Freddie Mac and Chase Bank in their REO division. Joyce came to Irving Cares as a volunteer Case Manager in 2016, and now she continues to follow her passion for helping others.
Executive Administrative Assistant, ext. 309
Karlene came to Irving Cares as a volunteer in August 2011 working in the food pantry, intake, and finally as case manager. She was hired to the newly created Executive Administrative Assistant position in June 2012. A native of Southern California, Karlene has lived in Colorado, Illinois, New Mexico and Texas working in sales with major retailers for 30 years. Karlene now lives in Irving with her husband and enjoys golf, movies, cooking, traveling, and family get-togethers.
Becky joined Irving Cares as a Grant Writer in 2015. Becky has a Masters of Social Work Degree, and thirteen years of experience working with various non-profits in Management and Development roles. Becky’s fundraising
Senior Employment Services Manager, ext. 207
Mary Shelton was hired as Employment Services Manager in December 2007. She helps clients identify and eliminate barriers to employment. Mary can offer job leads that match the client’s skill set, help them pay for GED testing or childcare, and give them direction in their job search. She offers weekly Job Search Seminars helping clients learn how to complete applications, submit resumes, dress for success, and master interview skills.
BEVERLY WILBORN, MSSW
Degreed Case Manager, ext. 204
Beverly joined Irving Cares in July 2011 after 19 years as Case Manager at Family Outreach at the Irving Family Advocacy Center. Her earlier employment was with Texas Child Protective Services. Beverly has a social work degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her knowledge about Irving resources is a great tool to help match clients with resources to help them maintain self-sufficiency.
Bilingual Case Manager, ext. 205
Michelle Flores started as Bilingual Case Manager in September 2011. She is a graduate of Grand Prairie High School with a background in customer service most recently with the City of Dallas. Michelle’s communication skills and responsiveness advance our goal of serving residents in need with dignity and respect. She uses her Spanish-speaking skills to assess client’s circumstances and recommend solutions to aid self-sufficiency.
Bilingual Case Manager, ext. 216
Jessica came to Irving Cares as a UTA intern in August of 2017, continuing to volunteer part-time following her internship. Jessica has a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington, and is currently working on her Master’s Degree in Social Work with a specialization in Children & Families. She was hired in December of 2018 as a Bilingual Case Manager. Jessica is a lifelong Irving resident and is grateful she has the opportunity to help her community.
Intake Specialist, ext. 201
Lindy came to Irving Cares as a volunteer in May 2018. She became part of Irving Cares staff in December 2018, as the Intake Receptionist. A native of New Mexico and an Air Force brat, Lindy was born in La Paz Bolivia, South America. She lived in Madrid and Valencia Spain, also Arizona, California, and Texas. She was employed by Honeywell Aerospace for over 20 years in Finance, Accounting and the Program Management Office Support Organization. She also was employed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Lindy has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Management.
Intake Specialist, ext. 214
Lisa has been volunteering at Irving Cares for over 15 years and served on the Board of Directors for several of those years. After retiring from Allstate Insurance in December 2014, Lisa increased her volunteer hours. Her customer service background made her a good candidate for Intake Specialist and was hired as such December 2018. Lisa primarily coordinates schedules and trains the Intake and Data Entry volunteers. Lisa is bilingual, which greatly helps when working with Spanish speaking clients. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and all forms of mixed media art.
