Chief Executive Officer, ext. 203
Kyle is a lifelong Irving resident with a background in retail grocery and financial services. Kyle joined Irving Cares as a volunteer in the Employment Services program in July 2010. He presented the weekly Job Search Seminar where he advised and inspired clients seeking employment. In April 2012, Kyle was named Irving Cares “Volunteer of the Year.” When the Coordinator of Volunteers position became available, Kyle joined the staff where he manages the food pantry and more than 200 volunteers serving the agency. As Kyle’s role grew, he was name Director of Community Engagement, and was promoted to CEO in December 2017.
Development Director, ext. 202
Heather joined Irving Cares in December 2014 with 20+ years of experience in working with nonprofits in roles varying from board member to fundraiser. As the Development Director, Heather is responsible for raising agency funds. She is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, ascribing to the Donor Bill of Rights and ensuring ethical standards and fiscal responsibility in maintaining public trust.
Program Director, ext. 210
Julia started as a Food Pantry volunteer in April 2004, and was hired as the Patient Transportation driver in June. She was promoted to Development Associate, then Assistant Program Manager, and in April 2008, became the Program Manager. Effective April 2012, she was named Technology Manager reflecting her management of Irving Cares technology. As Program Director, she ensures compliance with funder’s guidelines and maintains required documentation. She reports statistical information and measures program outcomes.
Executive Administrative Assistant, ext. 309
Karlene came to Irving Cares as a volunteer in August 2011 working in the food pantry, intake, and finally as case manager. She was hired to the newly created Executive Administrative Assistant position in June 2012. A native of Southern California, Karlene has lived in Colorado, Illinois, New Mexico and Texas working in sales with major retailers for 30 years. Karlene now lives in Irving with her husband and enjoys golf, movies, cooking, traveling, and family get-togethers.
Food Pantry & Food Warehouse Coordinator, ext. 209
Cary accepted the position of Food Pantry & Food Warehouse Coordinator in December 2018. Cary’s been a volunteer for several years helping with food pickup. His background is in real estate, retail warehouse operations and management. Cary will oversee management of the food pantry, pick up and deliveries and volunteer management in the food pantry.
Becky joined Irving Cares as a Grant Writer in 2015. Becky has a Masters of Social Work Degree, and thirteen years of experience working with various non-profits in Management and Development roles. Becky’s fundraising experience, and technical writing expertise enhances the work of the Development Department, raising funds to support the mission of Irving Cares.
Senior Case Manager, ext. 216
Mary provides Case Management Services for English and Spanish-speaking clients. She also trains and supervises our volunteer case managers. Mary has been with Irving Cares since September 2002.
Senior Employment Services Manager, ext. 207
Mary Shelton was hired as Employment Services Manager in December 2007. She helps clients identify and eliminate barriers to employment. Mary can offer job leads that match the client’s skill set, help them pay for GED testing or childcare, and give them direction in their job search. She offers weekly Job Search Seminars helping clients learn how to complete applications, submit resumes, dress for success, and master interview skills.
BEVERLY WILBORN, MSSW
Degreed Case Manager, ext. 204
Beverly joined Irving Cares in July 2011 after 19 years as Case Manager at Family Outreach at the Irving Family Advocacy Center. Her earlier employment was with Texas Child Protective Services. Beverly has a social work degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her knowledge about Irving resources is a great tool to help match clients with resources to help them maintain self-sufficiency.
Bilingual Case Manager, ext. 205
Michelle Flores started as Bilingual Case Manager in September 2011. She is a graduate of Grand Prairie High School with a background in customer service most recently with the City of Dallas. Michelle’s communication skills and responsiveness advance our goal of serving residents in need with dignity and respect. She uses her Spanish-speaking skills to assess client’s circumstances and recommend solutions to aid self-sufficiency.
Bilingual Employment Services Manager, ext. 212
Ruth started with Irving Cares in August 2016. She brings 5 years of experience in Human Resources, and has a BA in Psychology. Ruth has additional experience in education as a bilingual coordinator, and Spanish tutor. Ruth is originally from Colombia. Bridging the bilingual barrier in Employment Services has proven successful in helping Irving’s Hispanic community find meaningful employment.
Intake Receptionist, ext. 201
Sally joined Irving Cares in October 1995 after a brief stint as a volunteer helping a former Executive Director with administrative duties. She greets clients at the door, gathers information to create client files and prepares files for the Case Managers.
Program Bookkeeper, ext. 215
Denita was hired as Program Bookkeeper in May 2017. Denita is responsible for the agency accounts payable, accounts receivable and related duties.
Intake Specialist, ext. 214
Jennye joined the staff in March 2017. She previously worked in administration and bookkeeping for a local church. In addition, she served as Secretary of the Board of Irving North Christian Church. Jennye’s kind spirit and giving heart led her to an occupation at Irving Cares where she can help people. She’s a 15-year Irving resident who enjoys crafting, and daily walks with her dog, Tator.
