Development Associate

Summary
The Development Associate is responsible for developing, sustaining, and deepening relationships with individuals, families, foundations, corporations, churches, and the broader community. The objective of all development activities is to help potential supporters understand the ongoing needs of the organization and, in turn, know how to respond with gifts of resources. The Development Associate will be expected to minister to the needs of the donors and identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward these very important partners. The Development Associate reports directly to the Community Engagement Director and will focus on donor development, donor research, events management, and database administration. The Development Associate must be a highly energetic professional who is extremely personable, pays close attention to detail and is a good communicator both oral and written. The Development Associate will also be responsible for engaging other resources as necessary to grow donor relationships and support as necessary.Responsibilities
The Development Associate is responsible for supporting the fundraising strategy and
associated activities of the organization:
- Growing operational funding through charitable donations
- Keeping individuals, families, foundations, corporations, churches and friends aware of the mission, accomplishments and needs of the organization
- Primary driver, in conjunction with the Development team, to create, plan, and execute an Annual Giving strategy with a focus on stewardship
- Own the design and execution of the donor fulfillment plan for mid and mass donor segments, working to identify qualified major gift prospects for portfolio managers
- Work with Development team to develop meaningful and appropriate donor recognition opportunities, stewardship materials, and events
- Develop new strategies for thanking donors in a timely and meaningful manner, including donor specific letters that are personalized, including tax letters
- Work with Development team on the creation and execution of an annual Development Plan that will be used to measure progress throughout the year
- Engage the CEO, the Leadership Team, Board of Directors and staff in development activities
- Own and manage the CRM (Bloomerang) including but not limited to data input, reporting, gift entry, etc.
- Perform other duties as requested by the administration
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications or equivalent work experience preferred
- Three plus (3+) years of fundraising or non-profit experience
- Proven understanding of the essential components of development work and development office functions
- Knowledge of donor database systems, and experience with strategic data analysis
- Ability to communicate the mission and vision of Irving Cares
- Proven organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines, set and manage expectations, and translate goals into achievable steps
- Effective oral and written communication skills
